Job description

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION

The Pool Cashier is responsible for handling and accounting for money, filing, communicating with community members and staff, performing simple arithmetic, and analyzing data or report information and working effectively with the public.

DESCRIPTION

  • Responsible for accurately collecting admission fees from pool patrons while on duty.
  • Prepares cash reports and daily deposits.
  • Responsible for accurately tracking pool usage by special groups, including day camps, community groups, and rentals.
  • Responds to requests and inquiries from the public.
  • Assists with daily maintenance duties.
  • Maintains a clean facility performing cleaning duties to deck, locker rooms, and surrounding pool area.
  • Establishes and maintains acceptable conduct among swimming pool patrons and guests.
  • Must be courteous with the public at all times.
  • Operate a Cash Register
  • May be asked to perform other duties related to the day-to-day operation of the department.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

  • Able to complete a city application and pass an oral interview
  • Ability to provide quality customer service.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public.
  • Available to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays to cover pool hours or special events.
  • All staff are required to work the 4th of July for the city-wide Independence Day Celebration.
  • Must be physically able to perform duties as assigned
  • Acceptable math skills to accurately count money.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and effectively enforce pool rules.
  • Ability to communicate and maintain courteous and helpful working relationships with the community and staff of all ages.
  • Must be able to work effectively under direct supervision.
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions from supervisor(s).
  • Must be able to give verbal and physical instructions to swimming pool patrons and guests.
  • Ability to supervise and provide services to people of all ages, youth through senior citizens.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • American Red Cross CPR and First Aid certifications. (Certification available thru the City of Oak Park)
  • Experience with customer service
  • Training and experience in conflict resolution
  • Experience working with teens, and a variety of other age groups, and the general public

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

SALARY RANGE - This is a temporary / seasonal position (May through November) with an hourly minimum rate of $15.00 (with consideration given to experience)
