Job description

We currently have a seasonal part-time cashier opening at our Zoo Café on the weekends from May through August. You will be responsible for processing and receiving payments and issuing receipts to customers as they leave with their purchases. Cashiers also handle additional items necessary, such as taking orders, while providing an excellent customer service experience.

THE ROLE

The Concessions Cashier is responsible for providing quick, friendly and efficient service to the Staten Island Zoo visitors. The Concessions Cashier position entails a variety of duties. These duties include cashiering, hot and cold beverage service, cold food preparation, concession snack item service, stocking of refrigerators and shelves, buffet set up and maintenance for events and cleanliness and sanitation duties of the work area and dining space.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Obsessed with client satisfaction, asking, “How can I exceed your expectations today?”
  • Approaches all tasks with a “can-do” attitude
  • Presents a cheerful, positive manner
  • Shows initiative and takes action with an appropriate level of independence
  • Greets all guests both internal and external and a warm and friendly manner.
  • Demonstrates a complete understanding of daily menu items and explain same to customers accurately
  • Demonstrates complete understanding of department policies and procedures
  • Offers the highest level of customer service to internal and external guests
  • Relays relevant comments received from customers directly to supervisor
  • Maintains a professional attitude and appearance
  • Complies with sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen and/or serving areas
  • Greets customers and takes their orders by entering in POS system, computes and collects method of payment
  • Checks orders to ensure that guest is receiving a complete and correct order
  • Collects payment from guest and makes change
