JOB SUMMARY

Crystal seeks a Seasonal part-time Junior Varsity Boys Soccer Head Coach. The Junior Varsity Boys Soccer Head Coach is responsible for overseeing athletic training and strength-and-conditioning workouts, providing technical support and training to athletes, and managing overall communication as appropriate for the sport. Coaches have responsibilities not only to the students under their supervision, but also to the parents, the school, and the community.

• Exhibits and mentors the scholar-athletes in good sportsmanship and fair play.
• Attends league meetings and completes all required trainings/certifications.
• Attends mandatory coaches’ meetings and trainings.
• Attends pre-season Athletics meetings (in the evening) with scholar-athletes and parents/guardians.
• Monitors the conduct of their scholar-athletes during practices and games.
• Provides a safe environment for the scholar-athletes by checking the playing area and equipment before each practice and game/competition.
• Prevents injuries through thoughtful, balanced workouts.
• Instructs scholar-athletes in the basic rules and fundamentals of the sport.
• Assists in implementing training programs for the Athletic Development Program.
• Implements athlete registration and evaluations and maintains the evaluation database.
• Reports match scores.
• Sends weekly communication email to scholar-athletes and their parents/guardians with a look ahead to the coming 1-2 weeks (practices and games), objectives for that week, and any other pertinent information.
• Regularly communicates with scholar-athletes, parents/guardians, and the Athletics Department to ensure a positive experience for all scholar-athletes/the team.
• Upholds Crystal’s core values.
• Fosters an inclusive team environment.

Travel Required

• Travel to and from competitions in the Bay Area, and potential overnight travel for regional and state competitions within California (if the team qualifies).

• Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling moderately heavy objects and materials weighing 20-50 pounds
• Able to drive a 9-seat school van (valid driver’s license in good standing required)

Salary and Benefits

This is a Seasonal part-time position, working approximately 15 hours per week. It is not eligible for benefits. This position is paid hourly at $25-$45 per hour. Season key dates: start on November 2, 2026, with potential postseason on February 17, 2027, and beyond.
