The Seasonal Staff in the Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for maintaining and preparing the city's parks for public use. This role involves landscape maintenance, equipment upkeep, splash pad operation, supporting special events, and ensuring safety and environmental standards are met.

Hours of Work: Hours will vary based on business needs. Must be available on weekdays, nights, weekends, holidays, and during events. A total of 750 hours is available.

Examples of Duties
  1. Maintain parks and landscapes by mowing, weed eating, trimming trees, and cleaning debris.
  2. Clean and maintain park facilities and equipment, including restrooms.
  3. Inspect and ensure irrigation systems are functioning properly.
  4. Operate equipment for trail and turf maintenance, such as tree trimming tools, pole saws, and chainsaws.
  5. Report unresolved repairs to city departments.
  6. Notify authorities of rule violations by visitors.
  7. Oversee and train other staff and community workers when needed.
  8. Maintain professionalism when interacting with officials, staff, and the public.
  9. Perform repairs on park and landscaping equipment.
  10. Assist in repairing play-scape equipment.
  11. Execute light carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and painting repairs.
  12. Operate lifts for holiday decorating and signage.
  13. Participate in on-call rotations for after-hours and holiday coverage.
  14. Work during special events and holidays, including late nights and in bad weather.
  15. May handle traffic and pedestrian control duties.
  16. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent; experience and training that provide the necessary skills and knowledge.

Special Qualifications

Valid Texas Class “C” driver’s license required.
