Job summary

Wheeling Park District is seeking a Seasonal Park Associate Landscape to support daily upkeep of parks in Wheeling, IL. This part-time, non-exempt role runs June through August with a 32–40 hour weekly schedule, typically 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with potential weekends.

Training and safety rules are part of the job. Primary duties include operating tools, maintaining equipment, planting and landscape work, and general park maintenance.

Qualifications

• Preferred High School Graduate with knowledge in property and facility maintenance and repairs.
• Knowledge of landscape and grounds maintenance tools, equipment, shop, and field practices.
• Must be in good physical condition and able to lift.
• Demonstrate initiative, dependability, punctuality and ability to complete tasks on time.

Responsibilities

• Operates hand and power tools.
• Cleans and maintains equipment; performs simple repairs.
• Plants trees, shrubs, flowers; installs retaining walls and landscape materials.
• Performs custodial cleaning, mowing, and general park/building maintenance.
