Job summary

DHL Supply Chain in Memphis, TN invites applications for a Seasonal Operations Supervisor (Friday – Sunday Night Shift). The role supervises daily and weekly operations, leads and motivates staff, and implements continuous improvement initiatives to meet customer and site requirements.

You will foster a positive work culture, uphold company policies, and coordinate with regional sites to share best practices while ensuring safety and efficiency during peak season.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Operations background.
• 1–2 years logistics industry experience preferred.
• 0–3 years experience in lead/supervisor/management role.

Responsibilities

• Direct the daily activity to ensure a safe, secure, clean and fair work environment for associates.
• Ensure associates have access to tools and that tools are maintained.
• Organize and lead focus on improving productivity by improving processes and efficiency of associate work.
• Collaborate with regional sites on safety, labor sharing, and best practices.
• Plan, manage, and adjust daily workload and staffing to minimize unplanned overtime.
• Ensure shift, daily, and weekly workload planning and volume forecasting (staffing, equipment, space).
• Communicate and enforce company policies (safety, accounting, operational, regulatory, administrative).
• Maximize quality and productivity by understanding job standards and identifying root causes for corrective action.
• Convey SOPs and ensure shift hand-offs and preshift meetings are effective.
• Provide professional environment with customers and vendors (drivers, dispatchers, customer reps).
• Execute daily customer/vendor contract requirements and identify non-contracted work with necessary documentation.
• Ensure inventory integrity with timely receiving, picking, shipping, and inventory management.
• Participate in collecting performance measurements aligned with customer, vendor, and site requirements.

Seasonal Operations Supervisor

Key Accountabilities:

• Direct the necessary daily activity to ensure a safe, secure, clean and fair work environment for associates.
• Ensure the associates have proper access to the necessary tools to perform their assigned duties and that the tools are routinely inspected and maintained
• Organize and lead the focus on improved productivity levels in a manner that first stresses effectiveness by improving processes and secondly stresses the efficiency of associate work.
• Collaborate with the regional sites to share in safety, labor sharing, and best practice initiatives.
• Plan, manage, and adjust the daily workload and staffing to minimize the unplanned overtime.
• Ensure shift/daily/weekly workload planning and volume forecasting routines are accomplished (i.e., staffing, equipment, space)
• Ensure company policies are communicated, applied, and enforced (i.e., safety, accounting, operational, regulatory, and administrative).
• Maximizes quality and productivity by understanding job standards for each function, and evaluating performance variances in order to identify root cause and corrective action.
• Effectively communicate work task Standard Operating Procedures, convey key information during preshift meetings and ensure appropriate shift hand-offs.
• Provide a professional environment with relation to external customers and vendors such as drivers, dispatchers, and customer representatives.
• Execute daily customer / vendor contract requirements and identify accessorial activity (work outside commercial contracts) and ensure necessary documentation.
• Ensure inventory integrity by timely and accurate receiving, picking, shipping, and inventory management.
• Participate in the collection of performance measurements consistent with customer, vendor, and site requirements.

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferred
• Operations background
• 1-2 years logistics industry experience, preferred
• 0-3 years experience in lead/supervisor/management role
