Job Opening: Seasonal Ocean Rescue Lifeguard

The Town of Kill Devil Hills is seeking applications for the position of Seasonal Ocean Rescue Lifeguard.

Responsibilities:
  • Protect the public on the oceanfront by monitoring swimmers and beach areas during operational hours.
  • Assist the public and perform water rescues as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Ability to report to various work locations using personal transportation.
Selection Process:
  • Participants will undergo a pre-employment physical test (Run-Swim-Run-Swim-Run, ½-mile run, and a 500-meter swim in 10 minutes or less).
  • Qualified candidates will attend medical responder, CPR, and Ocean Rescue training sessions.
  • End-of-training evaluations will determine final employment as Lifeguards.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Paid training with a starting wage of $19.50 per hour.
  • An additional $1.00 per hour for applicants with an NC Emergency Medical Technician certification.
