The State of Indiana invites you to join the Adjutant General's Office in an Environmental Management role within the Indiana Army National Guard. The position performs tasks to implement the INRMP and support a full spectrum natural resources team across Indiana facilities.

The job offers a seasonal, limited-term assignment with hours up to 180 days, paying $13.00–$17.00 per hour depending on qualifications. A valid driver's license, pesticide license, and MS Office skills are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Pesticide license RT or higher required or obtainable.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds several times a day.
  • Ability to stand or stoop for extended periods.
  • Ability to carry a 40-pound pack over rough terrain.
  • Computer skills with MS Office (Excel/PowerPoint/Word).
  • Able to perform essential functions with/without reasonable accommodation.

  • Prescribed fire implementation as a crew member.
  • Forestry support including inventory, TSI and timber sale administration.
  • Invasive species removal and management.
  • Pesticide application.
  • Wildlife monitoring.
  • Threatened and Endangered Species monitoring.
  • Wildlife trapping and land rehabilitation.
  • Grassland improvement and restoration.
  • Chainsaw operation.
  • Water quality monitoring.

Role Overview

This position serves within the Environmental Management Branch of the Indiana Army National Guard. The position will conduct tasks that implement the Camp Atterbury Integrated Natural Resource Management Plan (INRMP).

Salary Statement

The salary for this for this position is $13.00 - $17.00 per hour, depending on qualifications, limited to working 180 calendar days.

A Day In The Life

Potential duties are widely varied and conducted in support of a full spectrum natural resources management team. Opportunity exists for hands on experience in numerous natural resources disciplines, with potential assignments in support of any of the activities below.

  • Prescribed fire implementation as a member of a crew
  • Support to forestry including inventory, TSI and timber sale administration
  • Invasive species removal and management
  • Pesticide application
  • Wildlife monitoring
  • White tail deer management and survey
  • Threatened and Endangered Species Monitoring
  • Wildlife trapping
  • Land rehabilitation
  • Grassland improvement and restoration
  • Chainsaw operation
  • Water quality monitoring
What You'll Need For Success
  • Valid high School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE); or one (1) year of work experience.
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Indiana Department of Corrections Work Crew Boss (training & certification provided).
  • Possess or obtain pesticide license of RT or greater.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds several times a day.
  • Ability to stand or stoop for extended periods.
  • Ability to carry a 40-pound pack over rough terrain.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of relevant software (MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word).
  • Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.

This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
