Job summary

SXSW is seeking a Seasonally employed Music Conference Assistant to help the Music Conference and production teams execute key operations for the SXSW Music Conference in Austin. You will support planning, speaker coordination, and speaker communications while maintaining professional, organized workflows.

The role requires strong communication, experience with live events, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Understand the music industry ecosystem and current trends.
• Experience in music festival/live event execution with high-profile artists.
• Strong communication in person and in writing; public-facing roles preferred.
• Able to multitask while managing deadlines and stakeholders.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Slack, Basecamp and FileMaker.
• Team player with self-motivation and passion for music.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support to lead SXSW Music Conference Programmer.
• Deliver exceptional customer service to speakers, artists, industry professionals, partners, and attendees.
• Assist with conference programming logistics and deadlines.
• Help identify potential speakers and talent.
• Manage speaker communications and briefing materials and schedules.
• Organize speaker data across databases for accessibility by teams.
• Maintain professionalism, organization and attention to detail with artists and industry professionals.
• On-site: oversee programming at assigned venues and ensure sessions run on time.
• Assist registrants and speakers with customer service needs; support staff when needed.
