Job summary

City of Corvallis Parks and Recreation is seeking a part-time Sports Official to officiate adult and youth leagues, including softball, volleyball, basketball, and soccer. The role requires fair play, clear communication, and adherence to safety procedures.

Shifts are evenings, flexible Tuesday through Thursday, with a December 2026–March 2027 seasonal window. Training and certification may be required. This is a casual, non-represented position in a supportive community setting.

Qualifications

• Experience officiating, coaching, or playing specialty sport preferred.
• Ability to interpret and apply league rules and safety policies.
• Strong communication with players, managers, spectators.
• Capable of maintaining professionalism under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Officiates games according to sport rules and league policies.
• Ensures fair play and unbiased decisions.
• Maintains control of the game and manages player conduct.
• Communicates calls clearly to participants and spectators.
• Monitors field and weather conditions to determine game status.
• Coordinates with scorekeepers for game logistics.
• Adheres to safety checks and department policies.
