Job summary

MainStreet Family Care in Havelock, NC seeks a Seasonal Medical Assistant to support urgent care, primary care, telemedicine, and occupational medicine services during the October–February season.

Responsibilities include preparing rooms, taking histories and vital signs, dispensing medications, handling calls, and maintaining records. The role requires strong communication and basic office software skills with prior experience in medical assisting being beneficial yet not required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
• Medical assisting experience or education is beneficial but not required.
• Medical assisting certification is not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare examination and treatment rooms with necessary instruments.
• Take patient histories and vital signs.
• Prepare patients for examination and treatment.
• Dispense medication as directed.
• Educate patients on discharge instructions, when applicable.
• Handle telephone calls from clients, patients, physicians, pharmacies, and other staff.
• Address patient concerns within the scope of the position.
• Maintain patient records for clinical, medical, billing, and review purposes.
• Assist with scheduling tests and treatments.
• Complete opening and closing procedures.
• Maintain disposable and non-disposable supplies.
• Assist with annual training as needed.
• Help produce and maintain patient education materials.
• Keep work and treatment areas clean and professional.
• Accept and handle special projects as assigned.
• Perform other duties as needed.
