Hours of work: 40 hours per week. Shifts may vary and/or include weekends, but will have two consecutive days off. These positions will last approximately three to nine months and will not exceed 1600 hours.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, positive attitude, good communication skills, and be a customer service-oriented team player. Successful candidates must also possess the personal skills and abilities necessary to maintain effective working relationships with the public and other City employees. Job offers are contingent on a background check, including a driver history check. Qualified candidates must have and maintain a safe driving record.

Responsibilities
Under supervision, this position performs routine maintenance of City buildings, grounds, right of way, and parks, as well as assisting with construction activities and special projects. Seasonal Utility Workers may also receive guidance from Maintenance Specialists or Technicians.
Essential Job Functions
The following tasks are representative and not all inclusive:
Employees are expected to meet high-quality service standards, including:
High school diploma or G.E.D. required. No experience needed but preferred. Valid driver’s license required, with ability to obtain a Flagging certificate (training provided). Optional certifications include Public Pesticide Applicator License and Commercial Driver’s License.
Additional skills include effective communication, learning city procedures, and thorough knowledge of landscape and facility maintenance and safety standards.
Work environment involves outdoor fieldwork in all weather conditions. Physical requirements include lifting up to 75 pounds, bending, standing, kneeling, and driving various city vehicles.
This position is temporary, with no benefits, lasting approximately three to nine months, not exceeding 1600 hours.
