The City of Oak Park is seeking Lifeguards for the summer season (May to November). This role involves ensuring the safety of pool patrons, conducting swim lessons, and maintaining cleanliness. Successful candidates will receive signing bonuses and work flexible hours, contributing to a community-oriented environment.
The City of Oak Park will be offering up to $800.00 in signing bonuses to all Lifeguards!
$400 for returning and new certified lifeguards to be paid on second paycheck. $300 for guards needing to be certified to be paid on second paycheck - post certification.
End of season bonus; staff must work 20 hours each week, including one 8-hour weekend shift, between the weeks of June 8 and August 17, 2025, they will receive a $1.00 bonus for each hour worked post certification, up to $400. The bonus will be paid on September 12, 2025.
Additional $100 bonus for staff who work until 9/7/2025.
SUMMARY OF FUNCTION
The Lifeguard/Swim Instructor is responsible for guarding their area of responsibility, responding to any level of incident around the entire facility, enforcing our rules fairly and politely, checking and maintaining pool chemicals, being responsive to member and guest requests, ensuring member safety, being patient and enthusiastic while teaching lessons; setting up and cleaning up lesson station, maintain communication and relationships with their clients or parents of their students, and other task assigned by the pool managers and/or recreation coordinator

SALARY RANGE - This is a temporary/seasonal position (May through November) with an hourly minimum rate of $16.00 (with consideration given to experience)
