Job description

SPA is currently seeking a part-time, seasonal Landscape and Grounds Attendant.

Under the general supervision of the Grounds Manager, the Landscape Grounds Attendant will be responsible for providing students and users of SPA with safe and properly maintained facilities. The Grounds Department maintains athletic fields, landscape beds, playgrounds, green spaces, and parking lots to meet the needs of the SPA community.

Work Hours and Compensation

Hours are typically from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with occasional overtime for special events or projects (seasonal).
Pay rate: $16-$17 per hour.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Perform gardening functions such as planting, weeding, and mulching beds.
  • Maintain school grounds including mowing, turf maintenance, pruning, and irrigation.
  • Set up for SPA athletic events and rentals.
  • Prepare athletic fields for seasonal competitions and practices.
  • Support special events like graduation, athletic games, tournaments, Homecoming, and Reunion Weekend.
  • Ensure safety through regular inspections of property and amenities.
  • Drag and stripe fields, mow, operate trimmers, blowers, edgers, and tractors.
  • Perform light maintenance and monitor equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness, empty garbage, shovel snow, and rake leaves.
  • Communicate effectively with users and the public.
Qualifications

Successful applicants should communicate well with the community, be decisive, and maintain reliable work hours. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and be available to work daytime hours and possibly weekends. Preferred experience includes work in ice arenas, golf courses, landscaping, or maintenance/custodial roles.
