Job description

The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period is April through June but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: June 2025.

Olympic National Park: Clearwater, WA, Forks, WA, Port Angeles, WA, Amanda Park, WA (Housing may be available)

Olympic National Park is primarily known for its temperate rain forest and hot springs. It contains three distinct ecosystems: subalpine forest, temperate rain forest, and the coast. Its primary appeal is its beauty—snow-capped peaks, pristine lakes, moss-laden rainforests, and the stunning Pacific Coast.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:

  1. Perform the work of a Laborer (MVO) without more than normal supervision (Screen out).
  2. Demonstrated experience providing laboring assistance to journey-level operators in grounds and road maintenance, including manual labor involving frequent lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds, using light hand and power tools, operating heavy power equipment (chainsaws, lawnmowers, trimmers, etc.), erecting signs, digging ditches, shoveling dirt and asphalt, loading/unloading heavy supplies, vehicle maintenance, landscaping, operating motor vehicles up to 10,000 pounds, and assisting higher-level tradespeople.

Volunteer Experience: Experience includes paid and unpaid work, such as volunteer work through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations. Volunteer work helps develop critical skills and experience relevant to this position. Credit will be given for all qualifying experience, including volunteer work.

CTAP/ICTAP Statement: Current surplus and displaced Federal employees with priority under CTAP or ICTAP must be well qualified, meeting all OPM standards and requirements, including proof of eligibility (agency notice, performance rating, SF-50).
