The Seasonal Kitchen Assistant supports the success of a Sur La Table store by inspiring customers throughout their culinary journey. This position blends a passion for cooking and entertaining to support the Resident Chef and contribute to store goals. The assistant reports to the Resident Chef.

Responsibilities:

• Provide outstanding customer service and create memorable experiences
• Assist with food prep, class setup, and shopping for ingredients
• Wash dishes and clean the kitchen before, during, and after classes
• Support instructors during classes and look for opportunities to help
• Contribute to sales through product knowledge
• May handle alcohol
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to lift/move up to 35lbs
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Proficiency in chopping, whisking, slicing, stirring, and using kitchen equipment
• Flexible schedule including days, nights, and weekends
• Valid Food Handlers and/or Food Manager Certification
• Preferred: 1 year retail sales or food prep experience
• Must be at least 16 years old
