Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory seeks a Seasonal Kettle Coordinator to lead the Red Kettle fundraising campaign. You will hire seasonal staff, schedule Bell Ringers and Drivers, and foster strong relationships with store managers.

You will oversee daily scheduling, communicate changes via print and Facebook, monitor office lines, and ensure accurate payroll reporting while coordinating with the Volunteer Coordinator throughout the season.

Responsibilities

  • Meet daily with Kettle Drivers to address routes and equipment needs.
  • Monitor the Kettle Office phone and coordinate with seasonal employees.
  • Input employee hours and ensure payroll is submitted by deadlines.
  • Coordinate with the Volunteer Coordinator on the Master Schedule.
  • Direct Kettle Drivers to maintain vehicle cleanliness and readiness of equipment.
  • Complete an Inventory and Condition Report of all equipment at season end.

Job Title: Seasonal Kettle Coordinator

FLSA Status: Seasonal, Full Time - non-exempt

Reports to: Corps Officer/Operations Manager

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40hrs/week

Supervises: Kettle Drivers & Bell Ringers

Rate of Pay: $19.00 /hour

Closing Date: 10/15/2026

  • Sick leave benefit - 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire; sick time accrual is pro-rated for part-time hours.
Function
  • The main function of the seasonal Kettle Coordinator is to provide leadership and oversight to the entire Red Kettle fundraising campaign. This includes coordinating the hiring of seasonal workers, scheduling work shifts for Bell Ringers, Kettle Drivers, and volunteers, and maintaining a great working relationship with store managers.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create, monitor, and adjust as needed a weekly Bell Ringers shift schedule and another schedule for Kettle Drivers work shifts. Ensure that no one works overtime unless authorized by Corps Officer.
  • Communicate all work schedules to seasonal employees by distributing printed copies and through a dedicated Facebook page. Communicate real-time changes in schedules to Drivers by using the dedicated mobile phones assigned to each route.
  • Meet daily with Kettle Drivers to address route schedules, vehicle assignments, and equipment needs.
  • Monitor the Kettle Office phone and clear messages daily to maintain up-to-date communication with seasonal employees.
  • Coordinate other staff and volunteers to cover the Kettle Office phone while attending to other duties.
  • Meet with Corps Officer regularly to discuss the progress of campaign and any concerns that may arise.
  • Input employee hours worked into Register-2-Ring daily and ensure that all paid time reports are submitted to payroll according to stated payroll due dates/times.
  • Communicate regularly with the Volunteer Coordinator to confirm volunteer assignments and adjust the Master Kettle Worker Schedule as needed.
  • Direct Kettle Drivers to maintain vehicle cleanliness and readiness and maintain all equipment.
  • Complete an Inventory and Condition Report of all Red Kettle Campaign equipment and resources at the end of the season. Ensure that all equipment is accounted for and stored in the appropriate location.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Education/Experience
    • Minimum High School Diploma
  • Skills

  • Driving
    • possession of a valid in-state driver's license is required.
    • An MVR will be processed every year in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies.
  • Background Check
    • Continued employment will be contingent upon a biennial (every two years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies.
Physical Requirements

  • Ability to operate telephone.
