The Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Park Service, is recruiting for multiple seasonal contractual lifeguard positions for the 2025 season at Point Lookout State Park. The contract duration will be approximately from Memorial Day to Labor Day, depending on specific needs. The available positions include Lifeguard Series, Lifeguard I, Ocean/Tidal Lifeguard II, and Ocean/Tidal Lifeguard III. Employees may be assigned duties requiring operation of a motor vehicle, UTV, or golf cart. A valid Maryland driver’s license with five points or fewer is required; provisional licenses are not accepted.
Selected candidates may undergo background investigations, including employment references, education verification, driving record checks, and criminal history checks with fingerprinting. Continued employment depends on the results.
Applicants meeting minimum qualifications will be considered. All education and experience related to the role must be accurately reported. Foreign education requires an equivalent American credential evaluation prior to hire.
Contractual employees working 30+ hours weekly or an average of 130 hours/month may be eligible for health benefits, with the employee paying 25% of premiums. Additional benefits include dental, accidental death and dismemberment, and life insurance, with full premiums paid by the employee. Leave accrual is possible after 120 days of work, at a rate of one hour per 30 hours worked, up to 40 hours annually.
