Job summary

Bass Pro Shops is seeking a courteous Host to welcome guests, manage seating, and maintain a smooth front-of-house flow in our Alabama restaurant. The Host will greet patrons, assist with wait lists, and coordinate with servers to ensure timely seating and attentive service.

The role emphasizes guest satisfaction, teamwork, and a positive dining experience. This is a part-time position with eligible benefits and employee discounts.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and seat them promptly and warmly.
• Maintain wait lists and communicate wait times to guests.
• Assist with seating and provide menus to guests and servers.
• Answer questions about the menu, restaurant, and Bass Pro Shops.
• Handle phones and reservations; assist with opening/closing tasks.
• Maintain cleanliness of restrooms and assist with side work.
• Thank guests on departure and ensure a positive experience.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Host ensures all restaurant guests are greeted, made to feel welcome and seated in a friendly and courteous manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Supports a strong commitment to world class customer service.
• Greets all restaurant patrons immediately upon their arrival.
• Inquires as to the number of guests in the party; maintains wait lists and communicates wait time to guests.
• Assigns guests to server stations in a fair and equitable manner; takes guests to server’s station, along with the appropriate number of menus and seats guests accordingly.
• Controls guest volume level at entrance to restaurant. Attends to and anticipates guests needs while waiting to be seated.
• Answers customer inquires about the menu, restaurant and Bass Pro Shops.
• Answers phones; books reservations as requested.
• Performs opening and closing side work duties as assigned; assists with pre-bussing and table set up activities.
• Acknowledges and thanks guests upon their departure from the restaurant.
• Maintains restrooms throughout shift.
• ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma/GED preferred.

• Experience in and passion for consumer service
• Willingness to learn new skills and be a team player
• An attitude of flexibility and mindfulness about the team approach
• Follow proper procedures as disclosed in Standard Operating Procedures as explained to staff
• Ability to memorize and become knowledgeable of menu items
• Strives and has the ability to work well with a team, to prioritize, has a sense of urgency and a real concern for guest satisfaction
• Intrinsically motivated takes pride in owns work
• Has the ability to stay calm, organized, and efficient when busy

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Regular walking, standing, lifting (up to 50lbs), bending, stooping, etc.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT

• Performs tasks and duties under direct supervision, using well-defined policies and procedures. Work is reviewed by supervisor. Limited opportunity exists for exercising independent judgment and decision making.
