Job summary

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Bell City, Louisiana seeks an Engineering Equipment Operator (Seasonal) (Ful) to operate a range of heavy equipment and perform maintenance across Cameron Prairie National Wildlife Refuge.

The role supports land-management projects and safety protocols are emphasized throughout daily tasks and inspections. Temporary position not to exceed one year, with potential extension up to two years based on funding.

Qualifications

• No substitution of education for experience for Federal Wage System (FWS) positions.

Responsibilities

• Operate bulldozers, excavators, graders, skid steers, backhoes, loaders and other heavy equipment to support land-management projects.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment and attachments.
• Carry out building and facility maintenance including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, masonry and carpentry.
• Ensure safe operation and compliance with safety regulations through inspections and proper PPE.
• Assist with refuge operational duties including habitat restoration and simple manual labor.
