Summary
This is an open continuous vacancy announcement. Applicants will be referred periodically throughout the announcement period. Duties
- Responding to emergency medical assistance calls by ambulance, patrol vehicle, and/or on foot to emergency scenes while adhering to park standard operating procedures, governing traffic ordinances, and laws pertaining to the operation of emergency and patrol vehicles.
- Independently conducting accurate and complete patient assessments in the field, ambulance, and clinical settings. Uses advanced knowledge of topographic anatomy, major body systems, emergency medical techniques, and relevant legal considerations.
- Performing initial triage of patients, followed by detailed assessments. Selecting appropriate treatment protocols and modifying them as necessary. Identifying and treating trauma and medical emergencies using emergency medical techniques and anatomical knowledge.
- Documenting all assessment findings, treatments, procedures, patient demographics, and insurance information. Demonstrates proficiency in computerized information systems.
- Recognizing signs and symptoms of life-threatening and non-life-threatening emergencies. Providing basic treatment as per protocols until advanced care is available. Conducting field treatment at scene, en route, or until definitive care is provided. Assisting with patient treatment in clinical settings under supervision.
- Communicating clearly and professionally with patients, medical staff, and safety personnel, using appropriate medical terminology.
- Maintaining ambulance supplies, medications, and equipment, including checking expiration dates, stock levels, functionality, cleanliness, and repair/replacements as needed.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
- Participation in the Direct Deposit Electronic Funds Transfer Program required.
- Pre-employment drug test and ongoing random testing for illegal drug use are required.
- Valid driver’s license, submission of driving records, and ability to operate government/private vehicles are required.
- Uniform and adherence to NPS standards required; uniform allowance provided.
- Work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, and shifts may be required.
- Government housing may be available.
- Work schedule may vary from part-time to full-time based on workload.
- Current NREMT certification and/or state license, and BLS/CPR certification required before duty.
- Pre-employment physical at applicant’s expense required.
Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by 05/15/2025. Clearly indicate duties, responsibilities, dates, and hours worked on your resume. To qualify at GS-05, you must have:
- At least one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-04, including activities like patient care, safety, or related activities, with hours per week specified.
- OR successful completion of a bachelor’s degree with at least 24 semester hours in relevant subjects, with transcripts provided.
- OR a combination of education and experience, with transcripts provided.
Volunteer experience is also credited. Transcripts or foreign credential evaluations are required if qualifying through education.
