Job summary

Steamboat Springs High School, part of Steamboat Springs School District RE-2, seeks a Head Track and Field Coach for the 2027 season. A seasonal stipend is offered and the role runs 03/01/2027–05/22/2027 with no benefits.

Responsibilities include roster updates, CHSAA registration, safety certifications, and promoting ethical conduct. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with large groups are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in competitive Track and Field preferred.
• Ability to manage large groups and maintain discipline.
• Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with students, staff, and parents.
• Ability to lift items weighing 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks.
• Ability to withstand outdoor mountain conditions.
• Maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with Head Coach, Athletic/Activities Director, students, parents, and sponsors to clarify expectations and procedures.
• Provide roster updates to the Athletic/Activities Director and inform the Director of potential conflicts.
• Maintain CHSAA coaching registration, current first aid certification, and pass CHSAA coaching test each school year.
• Conduct yourself professionally and promote healthy lifestyle choices within the program.
• Act as supervising adult for all athletic activities from departure to parent pickup.
• Take ownership of equipment care, follow checkout procedures, and inventory/stow uniforms and gear within two weeks after season end.
