Seasonal Guest Experience Associate – Accommodations

Location: Métis Crossing, Smoky Lake, AB

Position Status: Seasonal (May – August), Full time

The Organization
Métis Crossing is Alberta’s first major Métis destination where we share and celebrate the Métis culture with all people! With unique designs that combine both traditional and contemporary Métis craftsmanship, The Lodge and the Gathering Centre at Métis Crossing offer a blend of comfort, culture, and Métis history.

The Opportunity
Métis Crossing seeks positive and friendly team members to execute front desk administrative functions while ensuring a high quality of customer service at the Lodge and Sky Watching Domes. This is a summer term position with an end date of August 31, 2025. The successful candidates are expected to work as a member of the Lodge team to achieve high guest satisfaction, identify opportunities for improvement, and maintain a courteous and positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Follow all established and future Front Office Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
2. Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and supervisors.
3. Handle difficult guest inquiries and concerns with professionalism and efficiency.
4. Provide courteous, prompt, and accurate inter-hotel communications to staff and customers.
5. Process and modify reservation bookings efficiently using the Central Reservation System (CRS).
6. Promptly check in and check out guests with attention to detail and accuracy.
7. Report, log, and/or turn in all lost and found items according to established procedures.
8. Utilize up-selling techniques to maximize revenue and profitability.
9. Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the front desk area.
10. Report concerns related to Engineering/Maintenance, Health and Safety, Security, or suspicious circumstances to a supervisor.
11. Adhere to all of the Lodge’s standards, including those for hygiene, health and safety, and guest interactions.
12. Professionally handle phone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries, ensuring deadlines are met.
13. Deliver exceptional customer service while following procedures to uphold high service standards.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Exceptional customer service skills.
2. Self-motivated with a proactive approach to tasks.
3. Strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.
4. Proven ability to identify and solve problems effectively.
5. Collaborative team player capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
6. Calm and professional demeanor when handling challenging situations.
7. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
8. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and general computer literacy.
9. Experience with or willingness to learn to operate a Property Management System (PMS).
10. Strong oral and written communication skills.
11. Fluent in English.
12. Knowledge of Métis culture, history, and issues affecting Métis people is an asset.
13. Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to foster an inclusive environment.

Other Requirements

1. Availability to work a mixed schedule of days, evenings, and weekends.
2. Ability to work at Métis Crossing in Smoky Lake.
3. Clear Criminal Record Check required.
