The Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches is a non-profit organization that provides summer camp opportunities to Florida’s Youth. We operate three traditional sleep-away camps along with a traveling day camp program. Group Leaders for Mobile Camp will travel each week to different cities in Florida.

Currently, we are hiring for our Group Leader positions. Come work a few hours a month (PRN) now until the start of our summer season in May, when you will transition to full-time for the summer.

Job Type: PRN now & then Full-Time in May

Pay: $15.00 per hour now. ($300.00 per week includes room & board from May to Aug)

SUMMARY

The position of Group Leader is vital to the Summer Camping Program because it involves constant interaction with campers. Responsibilities include leadership, guidance, supervision of campers, participation in camp activities, and maintaining the campsite and unit area. The Group Leader reports directly to the Senior Group Leader and/or Mobile Camp Site Director. This position is exempt from overtime pay.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are examples of work performed in this position. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Supervise campers with alertness and discretion to ensure a safe camping experience.
  2. Show compassion, patience, tolerance, and gentleness to create a caring environment.
  3. Lead group activities with creativity and enthusiasm to engage youth and promote a fun camp atmosphere.
  4. Maintain appropriate role modeling through discretion and self-control.
  5. Ensure hospitality and attentiveness to donors, deputies, and guests to foster inclusion and comfort.
  6. Be flexible and available to assist with various Camping Services programs as needed.
  7. Manage resources wisely, including equipment, buildings, vehicles, and assets, to meet Youth Ranches’ standards.
  8. Complete required paperwork diligently, such as logs, expense vouchers, incident reports, and timesheets.
  9. Follow directions and requests with honor, obedience, and flexibility to ensure smooth program operations.
