Job summary

The Port of Bellingham is seeking a Seasonal Groundskeeper to support ground maintenance across park areas. You will operate mowing equipment, prune trees and shrubs, and assist with turf and irrigation tasks under supervision or in crew settings.

Your duties include maintaining shrub beds, edging, mulching, litter removal, and light building/maintenance tasks as needed to keep facilities presentable and safe. Seasonal work may adapt to department needs.

Qualifications

• One year of paid grounds maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of horticultural equipment operation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates riding mowing equipment and hand mowers, edgers and blowers.
• Operates trucks and small utility tractors.
• Prunes or removes trees and shrubs; uses power saws and chippers.
• Performs turf repairs, renovations and installations, and irrigates turf, trees and shrubs.
• Maintains shrub beds, edging, weeding and mulching; maintains ornamental displays.
• Rakes leaves, uses blowers and power washers.
• Cleans buildings and cleans up trash and debris.
• Assists with repairs and installations on park buildings and equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
