Position Overview
Help support local agriculture this harvest season. In this role, you’ll greet drivers, collect grain samples, and assist with scale operations to keep grain flowing efficiently.
Target hire date: 8/15/2026. Pay: $18 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Weigh inbound trucks, record information, and take samples where applicable.
- Perform tests required for grading specific grains.
- Electronically record grain grades, splits, and other data.
- Direct trucks to appropriate locations and weigh out empty trucks accurately.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with customers while keeping truck line moving.
- Complete documentation timely, accurately and legibly.
- Label and store samples according to facility protocol.
- Participate in the company safety program and attend daily pre‑shift meetings.
- Perform all duties within compliance of OSHA, company safety, and environmental regulations, including wearing appropriate PPE.
- Perform general clean‑up of scale/probe house inside work area.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- No prior experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 1 year’s experience working in an industrial environment with a dependable work record.
Licensing and Certification
- Grain grader and/or weighing certificate required. If not obtained before hire, must be obtained in time applicable to perform job duties.

- Working knowledge of computers and software.
- Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
- Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization.
- Strong multi‑tasking skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to follow direction and use logical thought process to interpret oral and written instructions and troubleshoot problems.
- Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to remain focused on exceptional customer service, both internally and externally.
Physical Demands
- Balance constantly/continuously.
- Bend and stoop occasionally.
- Bend, stoop, twist, crouch, crawl, kneel and squat both constantly/continuously and frequently.
- Climb stairs where applicable.
- Concentrate on tasks without distraction constantly/continuously.
- Distinguish grain grades, colors, odors and various damage characteristics in samples.
- Operate computer to enter observations and other data.
- Grasp and reach constantly/continuously and frequently.
- Lift 3‑lb. samples above shoulder frequently.
- Lift up to 30 lbs. occasionally or continuously depending on daily needs.
- Meet all applicable PPE requirements and presence of required test results.
- Stand and walk constantly/continuously.
- Stand or sit constantly/continuously.
- Communicate verbally, in person and over two‑way radio; recognize emergency alarms.
- Read and write instructions.
- Work extended hours, on weekends, holidays, and/or alternate shifts as needed.
- Work in environment with high dust levels.
- Be acutely aware of surroundings and quickly adjust to changes.
Benefits and Pay
Base pay range: $16.00‑$25.00 per hour. Pay offered may vary based on location and experience.
