Job summary

Macy’s Seasonal Float Fabricator will contribute to the construction of floats, props and scenic elements for Macy’s iconic events including the Thanksgiving Day Parade, 4th of July Fireworks, and seasonal displays.

You will work as a carpenter, welder, painter or sculptor on floats and studio projects, participate in installations, and assist with parade setups and other event tasks. Heavy lifting and weekend work are required.

Qualifications

• Carpentry, welding, painting or sculpting experience required.
• Ability to read scale drawings and use scale models.
• Ability to multitask and collaborate with artists and builders.
• Ability to perform professional level finish work on all projects.
• Welding/metal fabrication and general rigging knowledge a plus.
• Knowledge of electrics, plumbing and hydraulics a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work as a carpenter, welder, fabricator, or painter on floats and other studio projects.
• Assist with installations, set-ups and take-downs for events.
• Assist with parade set-up and other tasks during events.
• Contribute to installation of special projects like Holiday Displays and Flower Shows.
• Collaborate with Production Manager on project methods, planning and production.
• Fulfill other duties as assigned by the director of production or production manager.
