Job summary

Alaska Communications is seeking Field Technicians to perform locates and install/maintain all company services in Alaska. Duties include handling terrestrial copper and fiber, wireless towers, and related facilities in remote and non-remote areas.

Requires high school diploma, Alaska driver’s license, four years of relevant training or journeyman level experience, plus ability to read schematics, climb poles, and differentiate colors. DOT medical clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required and valid driver’s license.
• Four years training in a relevant telephone apprentice program or equivalent.
• Ability to operate necessary equipment and read schematics.
• Ability to climb poles and differentiate colors.

Responsibilities

• Complete service orders and maintenance work.
• Install and qualify data cabling to current specs.
• Install and maintain business and residential station wiring and establish the demarcation point.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and address wiring deficiencies.
