Job summary

Turner Enterprises, Inc. at Vermejo in New Mexico is seeking a Seasonal Wrangler for Spring 2027 to lead guided horseback rides and support daily horse care, barn operations, and guest safety.

This role offers housing on-site and a chance to work in one of North America's premier landscapes. You will maintain tack, monitor horse health, conduct pre-ride safety briefings, and collaborate with other wranglers to deliver exceptional guest experiences while upholding safety and conservation

Qualifications

• Previous Wrangler or equestrian role experience with horsemanship knowledge.
• Ability to safely handle and ride horses of varying temperaments.
• Strong communication and guest service skills.
• Knowledge of basic tack maintenance and barn operations.
• Calm under pressure and able to respond to emergencies.
• Must have valid driver's license or obtain within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead guided horseback rides, sharing Vermejo’s landscape, wildlife, and history.
• Assist with daily barn operations: gather horses, prepare equipment, coordinate riding activities.
• Exercise and condition horses to keep them fit for guest activities.
• Feed, water, groom, and monitor horse health at multiple locations.
• Maintain clean, safe barns, corrals, stalls, and equipment.
• Perform basic tack maintenance and repairs as needed.
• Keep records of horse health, feeding, exercise, and incidents.
• Conduct pre-ride safety briefings and ensure proper tack use.
• Follow equestrian safety procedures and New Mexico laws.
