Job summary

The U.S. Department of the Interior’s Yosemite National Park in California offers seasonal engineering support roles within the Division of Facilities Management, Design and Engineering Branch. Positions cover GS-04 or GS-05 levels with duties in planning, design, and construction of park facilities, data entry, and condition assessments.

Shared housing is available in El Portal, near the park. Overtime and occasional travel may be required; the work spans office and field settings, with safety

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
• Selectee must meet Selective Service Registration Act requirements for males.
• Must be able to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle; a valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a team member engaged in planning, design, and construction of park facility repair and rehabilitation projects.
• Performs detailed measurements of existing infrastructure and enters data into databases.
• Analyzes and performs condition assessments and identifies deficiencies in facilities and systems.
• Researches and drafts standard design and construction details for the park.
• Assists with topographic survey and GIS mapping.
• Assists with development of a cost estimating database to track construction costs.
• Drafts and edits technical engineering reports and documents project work.
