Job summary

Snug Harbor on Staten Island is seeking an Educator for per diem, seasonal work supporting engaging educational programs for diverse audiences across indoor and outdoor settings.

The role involves delivering inclusive experiences, coordinating logistics with interns and volunteers, and maintaining safety protocols while adapting to varying weather and program needs in a public-facing environment. Evening, weekend, or holiday hours may be required based on program schedules.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years experience delivering educational or interpretive programs in museums, parks, gardens, or cultural organizations.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills with learners of all ages and backgrounds.
• Ability to lift 30 lbs and stand for extended periods in all conditions.

Responsibilities

• Deliver scheduled educational programs, workshops, tours, and activities for school groups, families, and the general public.
• Lead program logistics, including setup, breakdown, and site readiness across locations.
• Maintain organized, safe teaching environments and ensure programs run smoothly and on schedule.
• Supervise interns or volunteers and collaborate with educators and management.
