The State of Wyoming is seeking a Digital Communications Assistant to support its Communications and Marketing Office. This temporary, full-time role involves managing digital content, social media, and website updates, while collaborating with various agency teams. Ideal candidates will possess strong writing skills and a background in digital communications.
The Digital Communications Assistant is a temporary, full-time position that supports the Communications and Marketing Office of the Wyoming Department of State Parks and Cultural Resources (SPCR). While this position is classified as temporary, it is intended to support agency communications consistently throughout the year.
Working under the direction of the Communications and Marketing Manager—and in collaboration with the agency’s Graphic Designer and Videographer—this position assists with day-to-day digital communications across SPCR’s brands and programs, including the Arts Council, Cultural Trust Fund, Office of Outdoor Recreation, Office of the State Archaeologist, State Archives, State Historic Preservation Office, State Museum, State Parks and Historic Sites, and State Trails Program.

Key Responsibilities:
Social Media Support
Draft, schedule, and publish approved content for SPCR and its affiliated programs on official social media platforms.
Assist with monitoring social media channels and coordinating responses per agency policies.
Help maintain content calendars for events, campaigns, and seasonal communications.
Website and Digital Content Updates
Perform basic website edits, such as posting news, uploading documents or images, updating calendars, and refreshing content.
Ensure all web content aligns with agency branding and accessibility standards.
Digital Analytics and Tracking
Track and compile social media and website performance data using tools like Meta Insights and Google Analytics.
Provide simple reports to help guide communications strategies.
Communications and Marketing Research
Research national communications trends, social media best practices, and digital marketing strategies.
Assist in gathering information related to relevant trade shows, conferences, public engagement efforts, and industry opportunities.
Summarize findings to support future campaign planning and agency decision-making.
Project and Administrative Support
Help organize and archive digital assets, campaign files, and research materials.
Support photo and video content collection during select events and site visits, as needed.
Provide general communications support across all SPCR divisions and programs, or other duties as assigned.
Basic understanding of digital tools and metrics (e.g., Google Analytics, Facebook Insights) is a plus.
Strong writing and organizational skills.
Ability to take direction, manage multiple tasks, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently with agency-provided tools and software.
Demonstrated interest in communications, digital media, marketing, or public service.
Familiarity with social media platforms and basic posting tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite).
Willingness to learn website content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Joomla).
