Job summary

Archdiocese of San Antonio is seeking a seasonal Athletics Coach to develop, initiate, and administer the sports program in alignment with Catholic school mission. The coach is recommended by the athletic director, hired by the principal, and evaluated in consultation with the athletic director.

The role emphasizes modeling Gospel values, safeguarding student well-being, and ensuring compliance with school and Archdiocese policies while promoting sportsmanship and team development.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years’ experience coaching and/or playing experience.
• Education required: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Licenses and clearances including driver license, vehicle insurance, CPR/First Aid, Safe Environment, and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
• Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters.
• Uses a variety of instructional techniques to develop student athletes.
• Manages practices and competitions to promote growth in athletic skills and teamwork.
• Plans instructional goals with staff to support student development.
• Establishes and enforces student eligibility and program standards.
• Schedules competitions and coordinates travel with the athletic director.
• Makes ongoing evaluations of the coaching program and implements improvements.
• Supervises student athletes during competitions and travel, and advises on academic requirements for scholarships.
