Job summary

Maine Maritime Museum in Bath, ME is seeking a reliable Seasonal Cleaner to maintain indoor and outdoor spaces during the operating season. The role runs 7:00–11:00 am, Monday–Friday, with occasional evening or weekend hours for events and special occasions.

You will clean restrooms, offices, exhibit spaces, walkways, and outdoor areas, restock supplies, and report issues to the Facilities Manager. This is part-time, non-exempt work through mid-October, with safety protocols for weather

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Prior custodial/cleaning experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and perform physical tasks.
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance, especially for early morning shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain restrooms, common areas, offices, and exhibit spaces.
  • Empty trash and recycling receptacles throughout the campus.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, spot treat, and dust as needed.
  • Perform outdoor cleaning duties, including grounds, walkways, entrances, and outdoor exhibit areas.
  • Restock restroom and cleaning supplies.
  • Provide cleaning support for after-hours museum events, as scheduled.
  • Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to the Facilities Manager.
  • Follow all safety protocols, especially outdoors in varying weather.

Job description

The Museum is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Seasonal Cleaner to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of indoor and outdoor museum grounds during the operating season. This is an early-morning (7:00–11:00 am), Monday–Friday position, with occasional evening or weekend hours to support after-hours museum events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain restrooms, common areas, offices, and exhibit spaces
  • Empty trash and recycling receptacles throughout the campus
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, spot treat, and dust as needed
  • Perform outdoor cleaning duties, including grounds, walkways, entrances, and outdoor exhibit areas (litter removal, sweeping, spot cleaning)
  • Restock restroom and cleaning supplies
  • Provide additional cleaning support for after-hours museum events, as scheduled
  • Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to the Facility Manager
  • Follow all safety protocols, especially when working outdoors in varying weather conditions
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Prior custodial/cleaning experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather (sun, rain, cold mornings)
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs, stand/walk for extended periods, and perform physical tasks (bending, kneeling, climbing stairs)
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance, especially for early morning shifts
  • Flexibility to occasionally work evening or weekend hours for special events
Compensation

$20.00 per hour
