Seasonal Chef Instructor, Savory (Sur La Table)

Join us as a Seasonal Chef Instructor, Savory at Sur La Table. With over 50 stores and the largest culinary program in the US, we offer top-quality kitchen goods and expert culinary experiences. Our goal is to inspire and support customers through cooking and sharing good food.

Role Overview

The Seasonal Chef Instructor, Savory plays a key role in enhancing customer experiences by delivering engaging cooking classes, supporting the Resident Chef, and contributing to store sales goals. This position reports directly to the Resident Chef.

Key Responsibilities
  • Model and uphold customer service standards, ensuring an exceptional class experience.
  • Deliver cooking classes using provided recipes and plans, maintaining high standards of sanitation and organization.
  • Ensure food safety by cooking and serving at correct temperatures under sanitary conditions.
  • Assist in achieving store sales targets through class participation and retail sales.
  • Communicate policies and procedures effectively to team members, providing coaching and performance feedback.
  • Record work hours accurately and handle problem-solving in collaboration with the Resident Chef.
  • Engage in effective verbal and written communication with staff, customers, and management.
  • May be required to serve and pour alcohol and mix drinks as part of class activities.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of kitchen operations experience or culinary degree (or equivalent).
  • Proven teaching and training skills.
  • Valid Food Handlers and/or Food Managers Certification.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, lift up to 35 lbs, and operate necessary kitchen and computer equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
