Seasonal Chef Instructor, Pastry (Sur La Table)

Join us as a Seasonal Chef Instructor, Pastry (Sur La Table) at CSC Generation. Sur La Table, with over 50 stores and the largest avocational cooking program in the US, offers a premier selection of kitchen goods and culinary inspiration. Our team is dedicated to creating happiness through cooking and sharing good food.

The Chef Instructor plays a vital role in inspiring customers throughout their culinary journey, blending culinary talent and teaching skills to support the Resident Chef and drive store success. The Chef Instructor reports directly to the Resident Chef.

Job Responsibilities
  • Model and direct staff to meet customer service standards.
  • Deliver engaging cooking classes using provided recipes and plans.
  • Maintain product knowledge and seek additional training resources.
  • Keep work and guest areas clean and organized, ensuring sanitation standards.
  • Cook and serve food at proper temperatures under sanitary conditions.
  • Collaborate with team to meet sales goals and increase class and retail sales.
  • Communicate policies and SOPs effectively; provide coaching and feedback.
  • Record work hours accurately; solve problems proactively and follow up with the Resident Chef.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, customers, and management.
  • Handle, serve, and pour alcohol and mix drinks as needed.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the Resident Chef.
Essential Functions
  • Communicate effectively and work cooperatively.
  • Remain stationary for periods up to 3 hours; move about as needed.
  • Recognize flavors and odors accurately.
  • Demonstrate physical ability to reach, lift up to 35 lbs, and work in a kitchen environment.
  • Work flexible hours for classes at various times.
  • Operate computers and POS systems.
Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of kitchen operations experience.
  • Culinary degree in Pastry or equivalent experience.
  • Successful teaching and training experience.
  • Valid Food Handlers/Managers Certification.
  • At least 21 years old.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to drive sales and motivate teams; strong communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits
  • $19.00 - $21.43 per hour
