Job summary

St. Anthony Summit Hospital is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team. You will maintain sterile technique, prepare instrument sets, assist in patient preparation, and manage room turnover across 3 OR suites with 120-200+ cases monthly.

The role requires NBSTSA or NCCT certification, BLS, and Colorado DORA surgical technologist registration. Seasonal commitment, on-call nights, and housing incentive are offered in Summit County, CO.

Qualifications

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program.
  • Current Basic Life Support (AHA).
  • Current Colorado DORA registration as surgical technologist for Colorado associates.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain sterile technique and instrument counts.
  • Arrange and inventory sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies.
  • Assist in preparing/moving patients and cleaning between cases.
  • Provide intraoperative scrub support and assist surgeons and nurses.
  • Respond to on-call coverage outside standard hours as required.

Job description

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Certified Surgical Tech, you will work under the supervision of the surgeon and RN, bringing your certified expertise to keep the operating room organized, sterile, and ready for safe, efficient surgical procedures.

Every day, you will arrange and inventory sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical cases, passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed throughout the procedure. You will also assist in preparing and moving patients, along with sterilizing and cleaning instruments, equipment, and rooms between cases.

To be successful in this role, you will need current surgical technology certification, strong attention to detail, solid knowledge of sterile technique, and the ability to stay calm and communicate effectively as part of a fast-paced surgical team.

  • Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure by checking package integrity, indicators and opening procedures.
  • Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation, before incision is closed and as needed.
  • Prepare back table and mayo stand anticipating needs of the surgeon and through the use of the surgeon’s preference card.
  • Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure.
  • Provides on-callcoverage outside of standard scheduled hours per department and/or facility policy.
  • Anticipates possible problems or complications that could arise during case. Adjusts quickly and prepares for emergent cases that change workflow.

We are offering a $6,000 Seasonal Incentive to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements.

$400/month Summit County housing stipend available for full time residents of Summit, Park, Eagle, Grand, Clear Creek or Lake Counties. Must work at least 80% physically on-site at facility in Summit County and full time or part time status (PRN ineligible). More details available upon offer.

This seasonal position is slated to start 10/26/2026 and end the week of 3/27/2027

Previous OR Experience Required

Schedule- 36hrs/ week- Variable shifts per surgical volume and current unit needs

Call required - Every night from 9pm to 7am is covered by call with an average call requirement of 7 nights per schedule period.

Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D.
  • Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program.
  • Current Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association
  • Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado.
    • A person performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another Colorado license, certification, or registration does not need to register as a Surgical Tech.
  • Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

Preferred

  • One (1) year of experience in a surgical setting
  • Experience in a specialty field
  • Previous Scrub experience in a hospital setting highly preferred
Where You'll Work

As a Certified Surgical Technologist at St. Anthony Summit, you will provide expert scrub support within a surgical department featuring 3 OR suites and an average volume of 120-200+ cases per month. Our surgical mix is comprised of 50% Orthopedics- including trauma, total joints, and sports medicine- alongside 20% General, 20% OB/GYN, and 10% other specialties, such as ENT, Urology, and Spine. We utilize a cross-trained staffing model, ensuring all associates are prepared to support every service line. Your daily responsibilities include providing intraoperative support by delivering additional sterile instruments and supplies, facilitating efficient room turnovers, and restocking for the following day’s cases. Throughout the procedure, you will serve as a dedicated advocate for the patient’s safety and well-being.
