St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a weekend-option role. You will support surgical procedures under the surgeon and RN, maintaining sterile technique, passing instruments, and assisting with patient preparation and room turnover.

The position requires surgical technology certification, BLS, and Colorado DORA registration. Weekend shifts offer a $10/hr differential and a six-month commitment to the weekend option.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintain sterile technique and verify package integrity and indicators.
• Perform counts with circulator before incision and before closure.
• Prepare solutions and medications used; label for charting.
• Prepare back table and mayo stand per surgeon’s preference card.
• Assist in moving and preparing patients and ensure efficient room turnover.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Certified Surgical Tech, Weekend Option, you will work under the supervision of the surgeon and RN, bringing your certified expertise to support surgical procedures while enjoying a schedule built around weekend shifts.
Every day you work, you will arrange and inventory sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical cases, passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed throughout the procedure. You will also assist in preparing and moving patients, along with sterilizing and cleaning instruments, equipment, and rooms between cases.
To be successful in this role, you will need current surgical technology certification, reliable availability for weekend shifts, strong attention to detail, and the ability to stay calm and communicate effectively as part of a fast-paced surgical team.

• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure.
• Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure by checking package integrity, indicators and opening procedures.
• Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation, before incision is closed and as needed.
• Prepares solutions and medications used.
  
• Properly labels and reports amounts used for charting.
• Prepare back table and mayo stand anticipating needs of the surgeon and through the use of the surgeon’s preference card.

Schedule:36hrs/ week-2x 12-hour shifts- Saturday and Sunday + additional day during the week TBD during interviews with OR manager.

No Call Required

Additional $10/hr weekend option differential applies for Saturday and Sunday shifts. The role does require a six-month commitment to the weekend option.

Job Requirements

Required

• High School Diploma or GED
• Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program
• Two (2) years of experience in a surgical setting
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
• Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado. ** A person performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another Colorado license, certification, or registration does not need to register as a Surgical Tech
• Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

Preferred

• Experience in a specialty field

Where You'll Work

As a Certified Surgical Technologist (Weekend Option) at St. Anthony Hospital, you will play a vital role in our high-volume surgical department, which features 17 OR suites including a dedicated trauma room, a hybrid room, a specialized CVOR, and a cystoscopy suite. Managing a caseload of approximately 900-950 procedures per month, you will scrub into a diverse array of cases across specialties including General, Ortho (Trauma), Neuro, Spine, Eyes, ENT, GU, Robotics (DaVinci XI/SI), Vascular, Endovascular, Cardiac, and OB/GYN. While our team utilizes specialized staff for Cardiac and Neuro, you will be cross-trained to provide expert support across all other surgical services. Your daily responsibilities will include maintaining a strict sterile field, anticipating surgeon needs, handing instruments, updating preference cards, facilitating efficient room turnovers, and providing seamless intraoperative support by delivering additional supplies and covering breaks to ensure the highest standard of patient care.
