Job summary

Steve Madden is seeking a part-time Cashier to join our California store team. You will greet customers, process transactions accurately, and deliver strong service at the point of sale. The role emphasizes product knowledge, cash handling, and maintaining a positive checkout experience.

The cashier will support store operations, assist with merchandising, and help maintain a clean, organized environment while offering flexible scheduling and a guest-focused approach.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of retail experience required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to operate computer systems and the POS register.
• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers at the POS with transactions and questions.
• Provide excellent customer service and product knowledge.
• Maintain accurate cash handling and register processes.
• Support in store operations, merchandising and housekeeping as needed.
• Help with stock replenishment and inventory control.

Cashier (P/T)

The Cashier is responsible for listening and responding appropriately to customer needs, maintaining extensive product knowledge, and exhibiting professionalism at the POS.

Responsibilities

• Maintain outstanding customer service standards, possess solid product knowledge, greet and acknowledge every customer, and address any and all concerns by the customer at POS.
• Reinforce a rewarding customer experience.
• Complete all sales transactions accurately and efficiently, while maintaining all cash accountabilities at registers.
• Assist in various store operations, including floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, cleaning duties when necessary, and returning products to inventory as needed.
• Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise; participate in receiving and monitoring floor stock.
• Be flexible to occasionally perform work outside your specific role.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1-2 years of retail experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to process information or merchandise through the computer system and POS register system.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays.
