Overview

The Bartender is responsible for the service of all beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. They must be personable, professional, and able to work in an ever-changing fast-paced environment. The employee must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work events as scheduled per business needs.

This is a Seasonal position for the month of May. LA County Fair is open May 2 – 26, 2025 Thursday – Sunday.

This role will pay an hourly wage of $17.27 plus tips.

This position will remain open until May 26, 2025.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for serving guests hard liquor, beer, and wine in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate ability to meet the company standard for excellence in customer service, interacting with guests in a friendly and fast manner; ensuring guests' complete satisfaction and exceeding their expectations.
  • Have extensive knowledge in all aspects of alcohol to sell and serve drinks in a professional manner that achieves Company service and quality standards.
  • Acknowledge all guests, anticipate their needs, and respond promptly.
  • Follow the bar pre-shift notes and bar menus and provide service as described.
  • Enter and complete guests' orders on a point-of-sale computer system; accept credit card payments.
  • Recognize guests that are visibly intoxicated and take action to cut off alcohol to such individuals.
  • Pour drinks responsibly in accordance with company standards for serving size.
  • Serve alcoholic beverages in accordance with Company, Federal, State, and local policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
  • Complete an accurate opening and closing inventory of product.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the bar and surrounding area throughout the day.
  • Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work.
  • Check IDs of guests prior to serving, ensuring each guest is of age to purchase alcohol with a valid ID. Refuse to serve beverages in a polite manner to guests who are not of legal age and have expired IDs.
  • Follow company’s guidelines for serving any alcoholic drink in appropriate cup size.
  • Request additional product or restock product as required.
  • Learn or have knowledge of various beer, wine varieties, and spirits available, and be able to suggestively upsell products to guests.
  • Stand for the entire shift while performing the duties of this position.
Qualifications
  • Two years or more experience in a full-service restaurant or bartending in a similar volume with a craft/classic cocktail program.
  • Must have RBS Alcohol Certificate required by State Law.
  • Must have CA Food Handlers Certificate required by State Law.
  • Take pride in personal appearance; report to work in neat and clean clothing; maintain well-groomed hair and personal hygiene as established by Company policy.
  • Knowledge of various beers, wines, and spirits.
  • Knowledge of mixing and garnishing alcoholic drinks.
  • Maintain excellent attendance.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of and ability to appropriately interpret and follow policies and procedures.
  • Ability to meet the demands of the work schedule, be at work and on time, and work long hours if needed.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to remain stationary for long periods of up to four (4) hours; able to safely reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 25 pounds.
