Position Overview

The Anoka County Parks department aims to enhance quality of life through parks, outdoor recreation, and leisure services. We seek a Seasonal Assistant Recreation Program Specialist for Day Camp to teach outdoor activities such as kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, and team building to diverse groups. This is a seasonal, on-site role.

Location & Hours

Work at Lake George Regional Park, 3100 217th Ave NW, Oak Grove, MN 55011. Hours vary, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, up to 32 hours/week.

Responsibilities
  • Teach environmental education to youth in grades 1-6 during summer camps.
  • Lead outdoor recreational activities for various age groups.
  • Plan and deliver camp activities aligned with program goals.
  • Assist staff with outdoor recreational and environmental programs.
  • Maintain and transport recreational equipment.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma required.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Background checks required.
Preferred Skills
  • Associate degree or current enrollment in relevant fields.
  • Certifications: Lifeguard, CPR/AED.
  • Experience in environmental education, canoe/kayak programs, or day camps.
Physical & Work Conditions

Outdoor/indoor work in all weather, physical activity, equipment use, driving, and safety considerations apply.
