Austin Wildlife Rescue is hiring full-time Seasonal Animal Care Technicians to start ASAP and to work through mid-August with the option to stay through the end of October, and with the potential to stay on beyond October based on job performance. Technicians work directly with a variety of native Texas wildlife, including mammals, birds and reptiles.

Job Location

  • Rehabilitation Center 111 Elbow Bend, Elgin, TX 78621

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Cleaning cages
  • Feeding animals
  • Administering medications
  • Maintaining care plans for injured animals,
  • Providing direction/guidance to interns and volunteers
  • Assisting the public with animals they bring to our facility. ** This is a very physical job that requires a lot of movement and lifting.

Requirements/Preferences:

  • Proof of a tetanus vaccination within the past 10 years is required. ** Rabies vaccines are optional and are at the expense of the employee.

*About Austin Wildlife Rescue: The mission of Austin Wildlife Rescue is to rehabilitate and release orphaned, injured, and sick wild animals and to educate the public to coexist with wildlife. We accept native Texas wildlife into our care. Our Intake location is in Austin. There we take in the majority of the animals in our care, over 9,000 per year! Our Rehabilitation Facility is located in Elgin, which is where the animals are transported to and stay until they are ready to be released.
