Job description

Agency: Quattro
Specialty: SEO

About the job

Quattro is looking for a seasoned SEO pro who can lead client accounts and still do the work. You’ll own search strategy for a group of clients, run the audits, build the plans, get the changes made, and sit across the table from the client as the expert.

The role covers the full range of SEO: technical, local, content, and on-page. It also covers the newer work we’ve taken on in AI search, including Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini (what the industry is calling AIO, GEO, and AEO). You should already be doing this work, not reading about it.This is a senior individual contributor role. You won’t have direct reports at this time, but having lead teams is a big plus. You’ll work alongside our account, content, development, and analytics teams, and you’ll be the person clients call when they have an SEO question.

What you’ll do

  • Own SEO strategy and execution for your accounts, and tie the work back to leads, revenue, and what the client is actually trying to accomplish.

  • Lead SEO conversations with clients: kickoffs, strategy presentations, monthly reviews, and the tougher conversations about why something isn’t working.

  • Run technical, local, content, and competitive audits, then turn them into a short list of what matters most and why.

  • Do the work. Keyword research, content plans and briefs, on-page fixes, redirect maps, schema recommendations, Google Business Profile updates. Where we have access and it makes sense, make the changes yourself.

  • Write clear requirements for developers and writers, then check the work after it is deployed.

  • Dig into performance changes and explain what happened, what we know for sure, and what we’re still figuring out.

  • Research how clients show up in AI search, test ways to improve it, and be straight about what the data can and can’t tell us.

  • Help us sharpen how Quattro does SEO and AI search work as the practice grows.

What you bring

  • At least five years of hands‑on SEO experience, with time spent owning accounts or sites yourself rather than supporting someone who did.

  • Real depth in technical SEO, local SEO, content strategy, and on‑page work. You don’t need to be the best in the world at all four, but you need to be good at all four.

  • Experience leading SEO discussions with clients or senior stakeholders, including times when they pushed back.

  • Hands‑on AI search work you can walk us through: what you tried, what changed, and what you learned. Using ChatGPT to draft content doesn’t count.

  • The ability to explain technical issues to people who aren’t technical, and to make a call when you don’t have perfect information.

  • Comfort juggling several accounts and deadlines without letting quality slip.

  • Agency experience is strongly preferred. If you’ve been in‑house, show us you’ve handled multiple stakeholders and done the work yourself.

The SEO work we need you to know:

Local SEO

  • Google Business Profile management and optimization.

  • Local audits and location‑level competitive research.

  • Location and service‑area page strategy for single and multi‑location businesses.

  • Listing accuracy and consistency across directories.

  • Review strategy that follows platform rules.

  • Measuring local visibility, profile engagement, and conversions, and knowing when the problem is the website versus the profile.

Content and on‑page SEO

  • Keyword and intent research, content gap analysis, and mapping topics to pages.

  • Content plans and briefs that writers and subject‑matter experts can actually use.

  • Knowing when to create, improve, combine, or retire pages, and spotting cannibalization before it costs rankings.

  • Titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal links, images, and page structure.

  • Judging content on whether it’s accurate, useful, and written by someone who knows the subject, not just whether it ranks.

  • Measuring results beyond rankings: qualified traffic, engagement, leads, conversions.

AI search (AIO, GEO, AEO)

  • Researching the questions, prompts, and sources that shape AI answers in a client’s category.

  • Tracking brand mentions, citations, which pages get cited, and how competitors show up.

  • Recommending content and technical changes that fit the platform and the business goal.

  • Understanding the difference between letting a crawler in, showing up in retrieval, and allowing model training.

  • Setting up repeatable monitoring and reading the results with a healthy dose of skepticism.

  • Being clear about which recommendations are backed by published guidance and which are educated guesses worth testing. We care more about what you’ve done than how many acronyms you know.

Tools

  • Google Search Console and GA4

  • Screaming Frog or a similar crawler

  • Semrush, Ahrefs, or a comparable research platform

  • PageSpeed Insights and related diagnostics

  • Spreadsheets for analysis and reporting

  • Common CMS platforms and publishing workflows

Nice to have:

  • AI visibility tools like Scrunch or Profound

  • Local SEO management platforms

  • Looker Studio

  • Enterprise SEO platforms like BrightEdge and ConductorIf you haven’t used a tool in our stack, that’s fine. If you can’t do the work behind it, that’s a problem.

What good looks like after a year

  • Clients trust you and ask for you by name.

  • Your recommendations are short, prioritized, and tied to business goals.

  • Work moves from audit to implementation to results without stalling.

  • Your reporting explains what changed, why, and what’s next.

  • You’ve brought the same rigor to AI search that you bring to traditional SEO.
