Job description

Elastic, the Search AI Company, enables everyone to find the answers they need in real time, using all their data, at scale — unleashing the potential of businesses and people. The Elastic Search AI Platform, used by more than 50% of the Fortune 500, brings together the precision of search and the intelligence of AI to enable everyone to accelerate the results that matter. By taking advantage of all structured and unstructured data — securing and protecting private information more effectively — Elastic’s complete, cloud-based solutions for search, security, and observability help organizations deliver on the promise of AI.

What is The Role

Do you love simplifying complex experiences while applying both your analytic and creative skills? We’re looking for a Director of UX to lead our search experience and UX team. Elastic has the most widely deployed search solution, built on the proven ELK Stack to converge metrics, logs, and traces, delivering unified visibility and actionable insights. Your work will help developers, managers, executives, among others, to improve the performance, security and reliability of products and services used by billions of end-users globally.

It’s a great time to join the team; you’ll have a unique opportunity to drive impact and shape the product experience during a pivotal stage. You’ll apply your pragmatic big-picture abilities and partner with product management and engineering to deliver critical initiatives. You’ll nurture your team to grow and effectively deliver value to our users. You’ll be a key member of our leadership team, contributing to the development of our large cross-functional UX team and vision.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Apply your design, research, product, and technical know-how to lead a vision-led product experience.
  • Collaborate with product management and engineering to plan and deliver user experiences that deliver user value and are competitively aware.
  • Help drive business objectives, establish and improve user metrics.
  • Apply a data informed and user-centric approach to identify UX opportunities and validate solutions.
  • Nurture your team’s learning and growth with career mentorship, coaching, and development activities.
  • Ensure team visibility and success record of measurable outcomes.
  • Improve collaboration, standard methodologies, and ways-of-working across search teams to drive an integrated and user-focused product experience.
  • Manage multiple priorities and provide impactful focus for your team.
  • Work closely and iteratively with UX research and writing teams over the course of projects.
  • Partner with the platform team and support our design system.
  • Work closely with UX leadership peers to help grow the overall UX org and the quality of our end-to-end experience.
  • Build relationships with myriad team members across the larger business to assure connectedness to the big picture.
What You Bring
  • Excellent verbal and written communicator, able to present, pitch ideas and convey design rationales.
  • Previous hands-on experience as a designer, researcher, or similar UX craft.
  • Proven track record of driving a vision and strategy.
  • Experienced manager of designers with 5+ years of direct-line people management.
  • Experience conducting user research, working with AB tests and analytics tools.
  • Experience working with rich data interfaces or a highly technical product.
  • Familiarity with Figma and other design tools.
  • Passion for learning and self development.
  • Connectedness to design and technology trends.
  • You are an organised self-starter with strong communication and previous experience working in a remote environment.
  • Examples of past leadership experience you can share.
  • Experience working in SaaS or enterprise software (bonus).
  • Experience working in GenAI or other Search-like companies (bonus).
  • A portfolio that showcases design solutions per your leadership (bonus).
