Johnson’s Meat & Seafood Market is seeking an experienced Seafood Associate in Jacksonville, FL. You will perform seafood cutting, crab grading, steaming, and exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires strong knife skills, knowledge of a wide range of seafood, and the ability to operate commercial steamers while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety. Flexible schedule and opportunities for advancement offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years seafood market or seafood restaurant experience preferred.
• Experience cutting multiple varieties of fish required.
• Experience grading live blue crabs preferred.
• Experience operating commercial seafood steamers required.
• Strong knife skills and seafood product knowledge.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds consistently.
• Weekend and holiday availability required.

Responsibilities

• Seafood Preparation & Cutting: cut, fillet, portion, and prepare a variety of fish; scale, skin, trim, debone; maintain attractive displays and FIFO rotation; monitor freshness and temperatures; package and label products.
• Crab & Shellfish Handling: grade live blue crabs; handle live seafood; sort shrimp, oysters, crab legs, crawfish; maintain holding tanks and displays.
• Commercial Steamer Operations: operate steamers; steam blue crabs, snow crabs, shrimp, oysters, crawfish, lobster; season and prepare per customer requests; monitor times and temperatures; clean equipment.
• Customer Service: assist customers with selections and cooking recommendations; provide hospitality and take special orders; maintain a positive attitude.
• Food Safety & Sanitation: follow HACCP/FDA/OSHA procedures; maintain proper cold-chain; clean equipment and areas; keep department clean and safe.
