Job summary

Cognizance Technologies, LLC is seeking a Research Analyst II to support microbiological and chemical contaminant analyses in seafood safety. Based in Dauphin Island, the role focuses on developing molecular assays, preparing DNA/RNA/protein extracts, and performing real-time PCR, sequencing, and bioinformatics analysis.

Requires an Associate’s to Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology or related field and 2–5 years of experience. PPO/HMO health plan offered along with other benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate's to Bachelor's degree in Marine Biology or a related field with 2–5 years of experience.
• Experience developing molecular assays and performing real-time PCR and sequencing.
• Ability to perform bioinformatics analysis on DNA sequence data.

Responsibilities

• Develop molecular assays to detect bacterial species in seafood samples.
• Prepare DNA, RNA and protein extractions for analyses.
• Perform molecular analyses using real-time PCR, Sanger sequencing, and next-generation sequencing.
• Perform bioinformatics analysis of DNA sequence data.
• Collect and process bacterial and eukaryal strains and audit inventories.
• Prepare toxins from seafood and assay samples using existing protocols.
• Collect environmental samples from marine environments.
