Job description

Seafood Clerk Position

Objective: To assist customers in their shopping experience by receiving, cutting, and serving seafood products in an efficient, friendly, and courteous manner.

Reporting Structure: This position reports to the Seafood Manager.

Status: Non-exempt position.

Knowledge

Essential:

• A food handling permit must be obtained within the first 14 days of employment.
• Completion of ongoing training as listed on the Cosentino Learning Plan.

Non-Essential:

• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Skills

Basic skill requirements include:

• Proper techniques for cutting and preparing seafood items.
• Monitoring product expiration dates and rotation.
• Handling damaged or un-saleable products following proper procedures.
• Accurate inventory counting and recording.
• Changing shelf tags and pricing accurately.
• Knowledge of department items, procedures, and policies.
• Assisting customers with weighing, wrapping, and pricing.
• Meeting productivity standards.
• Resolving customer complaints professionally.
• Implementing Cosentino Customer Service Standards.
• Unloading, sorting, and stocking shipments neatly.
• Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
• Complying with health, sanitation, and safety regulations.
• Operating and maintaining equipment safely.
• Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
• Basic math and reading skills.

Non-Essential Job Functions

• Promoting new items and weekly specials.
