Job summary

Times Supermarkets in Honolulu, Hawaii is seeking a Seafood Clerk to prepare quality seafood products and deliver standard customer service. You will greet customers, weigh and price orders, stock and rotate items, and ensure freshness.

You may prepare sushi at the counter and display merchandise per planogram while maintaining clean, safe work areas in a fast-paced environment. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, be at least 18 years old, and hold a valid food handling license;

Responsibilities

• Prepare sushi if working at the sushi counter.
• Display merchandise on showcase per schematic.
• Add ice to display case and prepare poke and other seafood items.
• Clean the department and sanitize tools and area.
• Keep seafood area organized and chilled.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Job Title: Seafood Clerk Department: Seafood-Meat Reports to: Meat Manager/ Lead Seafood Clerk

POSITION SUMMARY: Prepares quality seafood products to be displayed, while providing standard customer service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (responsibilities include, but are not limited to):

• Greets customers when within ten feet and four seconds of contact.
• Readily services customers orders, weighs out and prices products for customers
• Pulls items to be cut and prepped for the day from the freezer
• Trays, wraps, and prices products per company standards
• Stocks and rotates seafood items, to maintain freshness and quality, removes damaged items from seafood floor
• Prepares sushi if working at the sushi Counter
• Displays merchandise on showcase per schematic
• Adds ice to seafood display case, prepares poke and other seafood products from recipes
• Completes basic cleaning of department, by washing and sanitizing work tools and area
• Keeps seafood chill organized and clean, bale boxes
• Performs other related duties as needed as assigned by manager

OTHER DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Use of proper safety procedures
• Able to listen to directions and follow through independently
• Have good communication and observation skills
• Able to work with a team and independently when needed

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION:

• High school / Secondary school diploma or GED
• Must be at least 18 years of age to operate machinery
• Possesses a food handling license

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Previous experience working with the public
• Not afraid to use knives
• Working knowledge of different seafood required
• Basic knowledge of seafood product preparation and uses

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Air condition while in store, 40-50 degrees while working in the Seafood department, freezer and chill.
• Very fast paced
