Seafood Clerk (Food Services)

Get hooked on our fresh seafood department at Uncle Giuseppe's! Our Massapequa Store is actively seeking a PT Seafood Clerk to join its seafood team! Uncle Giuseppe's Gourmet Marketplace offers freshly delivered seafood, with a vast array of choices including various fish, crab, lobsters, clams, oysters, scallops, and more. Our Seafood Chefs prepare seafood dishes in gourmet style for customers to grab and go for a gourmet home meal!

Our Seafood clerks display seafood products and related items in a careful, clean, neat, and expedient manner, ensuring all products are fresh, rotated, and well-stocked. They make recommendations on seafood purchases and address customer questions and concerns.

Responsibilities:

1. Arrange, stock, and replenish counters and cases with seafood and ice.
2. Check and verify the freshness of seafood in live tanks, removing spoiled products and rotating merchandise.
3. Assist customers with seafood products, prices, and service, offering suggestions and finding products.
4. Prepare special seafood fillets and cuts as requested.
5. Weigh, price, and package customer selections using scales, labeling, and wrapping machines.
6. Process merchandise following production guidelines and sanitation standards.
7. Maintain displays with ice, changing ice as scheduled.
8. Receive and unload seafood deliveries, storing products properly.
9. Organize and maintain inventory of received merchandise.
10. Monitor cooler, display cases, and tanks for correct temperatures.
11. Maintain a clean, safe, and hazard-free department; report hazards to management.
12. Exercise safe food handling and equipment use practices.
13. Operate and clean seafood equipment and tools.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• 18 years of age or older
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• At least 1 year of experience in a seafood department of a grocery or seafood store
• Knowledge of seafood preparations and displays
• Friendly, courteous, and prompt customer service skills
• Ability to speak, read, and communicate in English
• Ability to interpret instructions and solve problems
