Job summary

The Winn-Dixie Company is seeking a Seafood Department Supervisor to uphold quality seafood offerings and promote a welcoming environment. You will ensure product availability, freshness, and value while delivering courteous service.

You will lead associates, manage schedules, assist with inventory and pricing changes, and ensure compliance with safety standards and food regulations. The role includes varied shifts and occasional overnight duties.

Qualifications

  • 0–3 years of supervisory experience.
  • English language proficiency; Spanish preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age; authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Provide welcoming customer environment and ensure products meet availability, freshness, and value.
  • Lead merchandising and schedule management to support peak hours and service.
  • Handle daily admin tasks, inventory, pricing changes, and ordering.
  • Enforce food safety, compliance with USDA/COOL/DOA, recalls, and safety programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Provides quality seafood offerings from a standard product selection. Increases customer confidence and loyalty by promoting and executing consistent and compliant operating conditions. Provides fresh and appealing products, courteous, knowledgeable and prompt service. Values diversity and supports an inclusive environment by embracing the backgrounds and experiences of the team.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Service (60%) Creates an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated, increasing confidence and loyalty. Ensures the department is merchandised per plan and delivers daily conditions that meet company expectations for at‑shelf product availability, freshness, quality and value. Offers product samples, answers questions, and assists customers in finding or suggesting products. Ensures customer requests and special orders are fulfilled.
  • Leadership (20%) Assists in promoting trust and respect among associates by collaborating, encouraging teamwork, and communicating company, department, and job‐specific information. Helps establish goals for merchandising, sales, and profits, empowering the team to meet or exceed them. Manages schedules to ensure tasks are completed in a cadence that guarantees optimal customer service and conditions during peak hours. Adheres to all local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
  • Financial (10%) Completes daily and weekly administrative tasks (communications, online training, scheduling, pricing changes, orders, etc.). Maintains awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and reports discrepancies. Reviews products for quality and freshness, taking appropriate action. Assists in planning, organizing, and performing inventory processes. Utilizes production planning tools to produce fresh products and follows discarding or markdown processes to reduce shrinkage. Ensures proper temperature control per food safety guidelines and retains documentation of temperature logs per policy.
  • Compliance & Safety (10%) Ensures company safety standards, proper food handling practices, and sanitation. Adheres to regulatory compliance requirements for food safety, USDA, COOL, and DOA. Executes product recalls and withdrawals promptly, removing items from customer access. Reinforces safety programs by complying with procedures, inspecting for unsafe conditions, and reporting to store management. Notifies management of accidents, reports safety risks or illegal activity, maintains wage and hour compliance, and cultivates a culture of safety. Ensures personal protective equipment is available and used, equipment is in good repair, and assists with safety hazard remediation.

  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Must be 18 years of age
    • Authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain the same
    • Successful completion of pre‑employment drug testing and background check
    • Strong customer service skills
    • Exceptional interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills
    • Knowledge of basic math
    • Adequate knife handling skills and knife speed
    • Knowledge of cutting, traying, wrapping, and labeling
    • Proficiency with computer applications used in operating the department
Environmental Factors

Retail – Meat/Seafood: Physical demands include standing or walking, manual dexterity, repetitive movements, reaching overhead, carrying loads up to 250 lbs., and occasional kneeling or climbing. Working conditions may involve indoor, outdoor, cold, freezing, heated or wet/humid environments. Safety risks include slippery floors, hazardous equipment, sharp objects, and exposure to noise, irritants, dust, fumes, sprays, and cleaning solutions. Required equipment includes cleaning supplies, office equipment, register, pricing gun, scales, scanner, carts, pallet jacks, and various warehousing tools. Personal protective equipment: goggles, gloves, cutting gloves, fryer gloves, oven gloves, back brace. Lifting requirement: 70 lbs. Pushing/ pulling requirement: 250 lbs.
